Todd's cello groups meet at North Seattle's Phinney Ridge Neighborhood Association. Any student may, in addition to taking private lessons, also participate in ensembles with Todd's other students. It is encouraged, but not mandatory. Music has always been a social activity; learning to play with others, and to listen to other musicians, is an essential part of learning to play an instrument well.
The yearly ensemble calendar is divided into semesters, each lasting twelve weeks. Ensembles take place in the large, pleasant meeting rooms at the Phinney Neighborhood Center. They have a festive, laid-back feel, but students are learning how to play music at the same time.
The autumn class will be held once a week, beginning the week of September 12 and ending the week of November 28.We have not yet determined what day of the week the groups will meet. The cost for the group is $180 per student for the entire three months.
