Yes, you can play the cello! Seattle has a great community of cellists, some of whom began playing as kids, others as adults. Todd teaches group as well as individual lessons, so that people with a shared passion for this instrument can make music together.
Over the past fifteen years, Todd has taught cello lessons to hundreds of Seattle adults and kids, both beginners and intermediate musicians, at his North Seattle studio on Phinney Ridge in Greenwood, and at other locations.
Unlike other teachers, who often offer only individual instruction, Todd also leads ensembles in which beginning and intermediate cello students can play together once a week, socialize, and exchange musical ideas. These groups meet in the beautiful rehearsal rooms at the Phinney Neighborhood Center in North Seattle. Any of Todd's cello students can participate in these small string orchestras.
Private music lessons for kids can supplement the instruction they receive at school. Todd has helped students grow proficient enough to place highly in the cello sections of local youth orchestras in Seattle and surrounding areas, and to make it into competetive music camps, such as Interlachen.
Todd has helped adults overcome their fear of learning to play the cello. When they first begin lessons, many of Todd's adult students worry that they won't be able to make a sound on the instrument--but they quickly find that they can get the satisfaction of playing melodies, and develop skills they can show off for family and friends. Again, Seattle, with its arts-friendly culture and adventurous spirit, is a great place for anyone to learn to be a musician. Let Todd not only show you how to play the instrument, but also to find a community of people who share your dream!
